News Round-Up

Firstly, couple of deaths I thought worth mentioning, as both people have had significant impact on my pop cultural world growing up. Gary Coleman died recently, and I just saw that Dennis Hopper has died as well. You might remember them as guests on The Simpsons.

Secondly, and this isn't really a project I've been tracking here, though it is of interest, but Guillermo Del Toro has quit his role of director for The Hobbit. The reasons being that the studio MGM, who have some kind of stake in the production, are in finacial trouble, and the movie production can't go ahead until the fate of MGM is resolved. So Del Toro has just run out of time, he can't keep waiting while he has other projects to develop, so he had to quit. Personally, I'm glad. The only film of his I've really, really liked is Blade II. Read More at Twitch.

Thirdly, Tony Jaa has joined a Buddhist monastery, so won't be making films for the foreseeable future. Now this doesn't mean forever, it could just be for a while, but after the weirdness surrounding Ong Bak 2, it shouldn't come as a big surprise. Read more at Twitch.

Expendables Expanded

So there's a clip on Ain't It Cool that you might want to check out. I'm not sure why you do, I mean, we're all already sold on this movie, right? But anyway, it's there if you want to see something you may not have seen yet.

Movies In June I'm Looking Forward To

Frankly, there's not much. I'm still going to see them, like "Get Him To The Greek" and "Toy Story 3", it's just I'm not really excited by them. And even this film I'm highlighting, I'm fearing it's going to suck, but still, I can't hide my excitement for it.

July looks better, but I think August is where I'm really hanging out for.

Winter Poetry

Since Frank has been going on about Autumn poetry, it made me think on my own stuff, and how I did more Summer/Winter stuff than Spring/Autumn, and then I had some lines going through my head all week since then, so I'm getting them out, even though they've already been out.

Winter's chill comes on my heart
The breeze you leave when you depart
An open door I can't forget
But this time with no regrets
I turn and face another day

I Am Amused

There's a website I visit regularly, and one of their weekly column type things is a kind of round-up of amusing pictures and what not circulating on the net. I thought this one was particularly funny and worth sharing, with some nice sly commentary.

Plus a little bonus.

The Flaw In The Design

Please don't laugh.
The problem with this nice slim design is it's not especially grippy, especially when you've just finished your shift and are worn out and your fingers aren't probably working as well as they should.
These are the unfortunate results, but amazingly, it still works.

"Tomorrow When The War Began" Teaser Poster

A Gift From My Sister

On her way overseas Rach passed through Hong Kong, were she bought me a pack of playing cards featuring Bruce Lee. I only just got them today, as the mail apparently is very slow. Very, very slow. But these two are my favourites on a first quick perusal through them. Excellent gift from Hong Kong.
